Black Friday

Posted in: (D)anger

You know, I don’t think I will ever try to brave the sea of people who get up early to try and get the best deals.  You can have them.  You’re nuts.

Not me.  I’ll be avoiding lines, hassels, and limited selection by doing the majority of my Christmas shopping online.  Oh, and on company time, of course.  Har, Har.

Have a great weekend!

happythanksgiving.jpgThanksgiving is Danger and my holiday to host.  Well it’s really Danger who hosts, he’s the one who cooks up a mean feast, and when I say feast, I’m talking Food Network Iron Chef quality.  Last night he already started preparing some of the delicious grub.  He cooks the gravey from scratch, roasting the turkey legs and extracting the juices.  I could not sleep, I was dying it smelled so good.
Tonight while Leah and I get the house ready he’ll make the 1,000 layer lasagna….yummy!

I hope you enjoy your Thanksgiving.  Be safe and hopefully there will not be any family fights.

If you’re planning to take advantage of the Black Friday deals, we’ll be here! I’m pretty sure we are the only morning show that will be live on the air so make sure you call us to say “Hi”!

The spending freeze in our house has been well documented to this point.  Sandy has put a freeze on our spending and I have eliminated some extra things I have spent money on in the past.

But, I have to tell you.  I’m stressed out of my mind.

I don’t know when/how to spend money anymore.  Not with out her prior approval anyways.  Do you know how good it felt to eat at The Marketplace Mall Food Court and  buy a video game for myself on Friday?  Sadly, there are more important things that need our financial attention right now.  These are the items that have me stressed going into the holiday where we are supposed to give thanks.

  • Sandy needs a car.  This is the big one.  She knows how much she wants to spend, but can’t decide on what to get for the money.  It is my hope, and I stress hope, that once she’s purchased her car and is happy with it, we can relax our spending freeze to some degree.
  • Our treadmill is busted.  It needs a part that runs over a hundy.  I use that treadmill.   A lot.  I feel awful when I can’t run.  I haven’t been able to run at home.  Hence, I am generally miserable.
  • Our surround sound receiver in our family room is short one channel. This is not a huge necessity, but it’s driving me crazy.  It sounds awful.  And, everyone will be over on Thursday hearing how awful it sounds.  I’m not happy about this.
  • My buddies have asked me to go to the Bills game on Sunday.  I’m actually scared to ask Sandy if I can go, because I may have to take out a loan to buy a beer at The Ralph.
  • Sandy’s cousin is coming to NYC from Europe next month.  She should go, but doesn’t want to spend the money to travel.  I think that’s crazy.  I would spend money to travel to see my favorite band, but she won’t spend money to visit a blood relative?

Oh, and I’m cooking the feast on Thursday.  Turkey, corn bread stuffing, cranberries, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, homemade gravy, and don’t forget the lasagna.  Anyone have a sedative?

Everyone has Thanksgiving on their mind this week, and I’m no different. Although all of my family lives 1000 miles away and I won’t get to spend it with them, I like to reminisce of all of the things I love about Thanksgiving.

1.) The smells. The smells of food cooking, my mom cleaning, and my cousins farting on our couch.

2.) Listening to the gross stories that my family share with eachother. I honestly heard ahappy_thanksgiving.jpg conversation between my 2 grandmothers about how my grandfathers were in the bedroom.

3.) Green Bean Casserole! I love that stuff!

4.) The kids table. At the time I hated sitting at the kids table, now I really miss it. It was fun throwing food at eachother and groaning about how boring the old people were. One year I snuck away from the kids table and watched Pulp Fiction for the first time with my older cousins. I had no idea what was happening at the time…but I knew it was awesome.

5.) Leftovers. I think the food might even taste better the next day.

6.) Knowing that Christmas was only a month away and we’d get to do it all over again with PRESENTS!!

This Thanksgiving myself, Brody, and Marti will snuggle up on the couch, share a turkey sandwich and crack open a frosty beer. Sounds good to me :o )
