I didn’t like this dude when he was on The Real World: Brooklyn. Now I straight up HATE him.

About a year ago, I broke up with a guy I was with for a long time. I then made a conscious decision to take a year off from dating. I needed time to grieve, to hang out with my friends, and to discover who I was again. I knew I wouldn’t be able to do that if I jumped back into the dating scene right away.

It took a while to get used to. It was lonely spending Friday nights at home on the couch by myself. It was awkward when I was the only one without a date to my friend’s wedding. It was stressful when my car was in the shop and had no one to give me a ride to and from work.

Slowly but surely, I got through it. Friday nights became wine night on the porch with my housemates. My friend’s wedding became a dance party with my girls. My best friend picked me up when my car was in the shop and took me out to breakfast.  For the first time in a LONG time, I actually LOVE being single.

A year has flown by and in just a couple of weeks, the dating ban will officially be lifted.  I’m excited, freaked out, annoyed, scared, happy…but I know my girls will get me through anything tough or tricky that comes my way.

Potential suitors: You’ve got a lot to live up to. My girls are the best boyfriend I’ve ever had.
